Jags Place 31st at NCAA Championships
Senior Jaiden Brandt paces Jags in Spokane, Wash. for frigid 10K race
SPOKANE, Wash. – The GRU Augusta Men’s Cross Country team finished 31st at the NCAA Championships Saturday afternoon in a 10K race at Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex. The Jaguars represented Georgia Regents University for the first time at a championship event.
GRU placed 31st in the field led by senior Jaiden Brandt. Brandt, who paced the Jags in all but one race on the year, led the team with a time of 31:44.5 for 67th place. Senior Dustin Ross crossed second for the Jags to take 165th in 33:05.7, sophomore Preston Jones took 207th in 33:49.1, junior Shane Huckeba finished in 34:16.0 for 220th and freshman Nick Del Guercio finished 232nd in 34:38.4.
Seniors Adam Aldridge and Matt Johnson closed out GRU, with Aldridge grabbing 234th in 35:09.3 and Johnson 35:21.8 for 238th.
Tabor Stevens, who finished third in last year's race, led Adams State to its fifth men's team title in the past six years, winning the race in a time of 29:50.1. Adams State, Grand Valley State, Augustana (S.D.), Western State, and Colorado Mines crossed in that order for the top-five teams. Grand Valley State won the women’s team title and Jennifer Agnew of University of Mary won the overall 6K in 20:50.7.
The race was the last official NCAA sanctioned race for the four Jaguar seniors – Adam Aldridge, Jaiden Brandt, Matt Johnson, and Dustin Ross.
