 5A- Northview Sweeps Team and Individual Titles, Billings Wins Her 1st State Title

 

Northview's Billings set the table early with a dominant individual win, but the 2-5 runners alone scored just 83 points easily securing the team state title. Tiffany Yue, Anna Barefield were key cogs in Northview's march to a championship placing 17th and 21st respectively. The race was on for Podium positions betwixt Dunwoody, and the the Lakeside schools (DK and Evans) Lakeside-Evans prevailed overtaking the higher ranked Wildcats, scoring 176 points led by frosh Allysa Hooker's 5th place finish at 20:05. Sr. Alex Cameron of Dunwoody ended her superb GHSA XC career as individual runnerup, clocking a 19:29 pacing her squad to 3rd overall. Morgan Mihalis (another Fantastic Frosh) led Lakeside DeKalb to the final team Podium spot finishing a stride behind Hooker in 20:06. Starrs Mill rounded out the top 5 teams. 
 
Other Individuals earning GHSA All-State medals and gear (not mentioned above) were Ashley Kehoe of Pope HS placing 3rd in 19:52, freshman Caroline Nelson of Norhgate 4th in 19:59. A duo from Richmond Hill ran in tandem placing in the top 10,  consiting of soph Rachel Hammesfahr placing 7th in 20:07, trailed by Amanda Elliot in 20:12. Freshman Micah Weathers of Winder-Barrow came in 9th at 20:15 and Abigail Mathis from Villa Rica had a surprising 10th place finish in 20:16.
