GHSA Girls 1A Private Preview

                                    'GHSA Girls 1A Private Preview'

Team Race

Darlington has been ranked #1 since week 4 before October and has a great opportunity to improve upon their 3rd place finish last season down in Macon. No A team has beaten them at any meet this Fall. Providence Christian has perhaps the top girl in the State with Tayler Tuttle and were impressive winning 8-A. Pace's Girls mirror their boys squad, being steady hovering below Darlington all season. Athens Christian at Last Chance was within 23 points of Darlington in the 5A race, but were they both racing? Hebron Christian stunned ACS at the region meet placing 2nd. Paideia ran well at 5-A taking 2nd but it would be a tall order for them to make the Podium. Athens Academy comes in as the defending champ, and in the past has done well at state.

Individual Race

This is likely the most anticipated Individual girls race in small school history as 3 girls are within a stride of each other and a 4th may try join in the fun. Tayler Tuttle of Providence has defeated Morgan Ilse, Savannah Carnahan, Addy Lippitt, Lauren Hovis, Lauren Brennan (in Big Races) her only loss was to Jenna Gearing of White County at Berry late August.Tuttle has not raced at Carrollton this Fall or against Foreman in XC dating back to the 2012 A meet in Macon. It's evident she's much stronger and has improved footspeed. She tends to get stronger as the race progresses.

Soph Kathryn Foreman of Landmark is the consumate frontrunner, going out 'Pre-style' creating large separation and hanging tough. Foreman has defeated Lippitt, Hovis, Lindsay Billings, Ashley Kehoe, Gearing at Asics/Alexander and bested Tuttle at Macon last Fall by :28 She also ripped a 18:47 at Last Chance, but ran into a buzzsaw named Helen Williams of Atlanta International at 5-A, holding her off the final 350 meters around the track both finishing at 18:09

Can Williams have another 'race of her life' and hang with the best in Georgia? Emma Grace Hurley of Fellowship Christian should be chasing them all based on her resume. Other solid runners in perhaps a pack may be Stephanie Ward of Darlington, Emily Swanigan of Providence, Gabby Cortese of ACS, and Nicole Fegans of Landmark.
