Golden Eagle ReCap

                                                       Golden Eagle ReCap

The Golden Eagle Invite was a much lower key event than the Battle of Atlanta, but 23 teams showed up prepared to tackle the much ballyhooed Nash Farms Battlefield course. The weather was nice early, but the course seemed to drain energy from the runners beginning with the Varsity Girls race. Westminster girls clad in white singlets and green shorts dominated the Varsity and JV Girls races.

Boys

Kell junior Logan Poteet continued to excel this season winning the Boys Overall title as after the first loop created separation from a pair of North Oconee runners (Cole THornton- 16:24 and Tyler Jones- 16:26) cruising in at 16:14.  Coleman and Jones though led the 3A Titans to the team title running in tandem in the latter half of the race placing 2nd and 3rd respectively. Two more NOHS harriers, Frosh Anthony Potts placed 6th in 17:09 with Thomas Moore back in 9th at 17:29 cemented the team win. Brian Cato of host Eagle's Landing placed 4th overall in 16:29 and McIntosh #1 Joshua Mattingly came in 5th at 16:38 spurring a 2nd place team finish. Rockdale freshman Dax Willette was back in 7th at 17:15 and seemed not to be pushing it.

Girls

As mentioned above, Westminster's girls just spanked everyone in both the Varsity and JV races. The Lady Cats put 6 in the top 11 positions and seemed to be hitting their stride in mid-October scoring 23 points. Sweeping the top 2 places were a pair of sophomores including race winner Charlotte Folinus who powered across the finish line in 20:09. Following about a 80 meters back was Margaret Maxwell clocking a 20:09. Out of the next 5 finishers, 4 of them were freshman, including Kell's Olivia Terwilliger in 3rd at 20:30, Rachel Ward from McIntosh in 4th at 20:48. Breaking up the frosh line dance was Westminster's Carson Simon placing 5th just outleaning Eagle's Landing's Betty Jackson, both at 20:56. McIntosh went home to Peachtree City w/ the 2nd place team hardware.
