Boys Varsity
17 schools went at it the Boys Varsity race on a beautiful day on the Rock Ranch. Veterans HS emerged victorius defeating Northside Columbus and nearby region rival Mary Persons. Leading the Warhawks to the team title were individual runnerup Michael Rowlands in 16:39 and Brandon Bodony placing 6th in 18:07 Brian Cato from Eagle's Landing HS out of Henry County dominated the course finishing in 16:39 for the individual title. Placing 3rd was ELCA's Tommy Hamlin in 17:12
Girls Varsity
In the Girls team race, 4A ranked Veterans HS took home a narrow win over an ever improving Eagle's Landing (4A) squad by 4 points. The Warhawks were led by their strong duo of recent 4A ROW Bethanie Bailey placing 3rd in 20:33 followed by teamate Josi Giavinozzo in 4th at 20:43 sealing the team win. Anna Leigh Nix (formerly of Veterans HS) was top gun in the Varsity Girls race clocking a 20:12 Frosh Betty Jackson of Eagle's Landing (who may have been overlooked in the Fall's Fleet Frosh article) has lately made great strides placing 2nd overall in 20:24 Rounding out the top individuals was Lamar's Sydney Tenney in 21:31.
