2011 a Promising Season!

With 2011 on the horizon the WFHS CC squads are hard at work. A young boys team will no doubt provide a pivotal year for the Wolverines to see if they can turn the corner and become a state qualifier on a steady basis. The boys will be lead by Seniors Sam Shackleford and Sam Loveland. Junior Tray Gregory will provide a solid trio at the front for the Wolverines. On the girls side the team will be as deep as ever. Lead be Seniors Taylor Roeck and Megan Warner the Lady Wolverines look to improve on their sixth place finish in Region 6-5A last season. Sophomore Sara Jenkins looks to become a real player on the 5A scene this fall and hoping to better her top 10 finish in last seasons region meet. A host of freshman talent will prove to be a strong point for the future of the program. 2011 will be a fun and exciting year for the Wolverines! Check the teams official website at www.wftfxc.com to follow us each week!

Girls post fourth place finish at AAA State Meet

The girls finished off a highly successful season on this past Saturday. Taylor Roeck and Kat Gibson both cashed in on All-State honors. With the loss of highly touted freshman Abby Wilson to a move the squad rebounded to several early season wins. The team finished the season at Carrollton by posting the second fastest top five average ever posted by a girls squad. Amazingly the girls averaged 28 seconds faster per runner than our runner-up squad form last season.

On the boys side the guys finished 8thin a strong region 7 3AAA this year. Jeff Bagley set a new school record (17:08) and the team average was lowered from 18:51 to 18:06. THe boys will regroup this summer and hope to gain their first state berth in the fall of 2009!
