Carrollton Last Chance 2013

Carrollton, GA

Coverage

Last Chance ReCap 6A Oct 28, 2013

Not as many schools ran up in the 6A race, but wasn't it VERY noticable how Wesleyan/Westminster chose as usual to not compete against each other once again?? South Forsyth took the Boys team race and Centennial's girls placed 1st as it seemed they, North Gwinnett, Lambert were going wfo while South Forsyth laid back a bit.

Last Chance ReCap 5A Oct 27, 2013

The 5A race was packed with teams not in AAAAA as its customary for teams in lower classes to run in another (higher class race) against better competition, and avoiding going head to head against schools they will see in 2 weeks with a state title on the line. ACS, North Hall, Darlington, Westminster, Perry, Lovett and Hephzibah all competed in the 5A race. North Hall and Westminster won the team races prepping for region.

Last Chance ReCap 3A-4A Oct 27, 2013

Buford, Columbus and Westover jousted in the Boys race with Buford warming up for region taking the win. Josh Thompson of the Wolves won the overall race in 17:34. 3rd ranked White County's girls actually did race winning the team title easily with overall winner Jenna Gearing turning in a 19:42. The 'Insider' report is that 3A teams White County, Buford's boys, North Hall (5A race) all raced, while Woodward did an obvious tempo and Buford's girls ran a tempo.

Last Chance ReCap JV Championship Races Oct 27, 2013

These 2 races actually may significance to some programs as top JVs may be solidifying their status as 5-10 runners for Region and as alternates for State in 2 weeks in case of injury/sickness. In what is becoming questionable...Two 8th graders were the champs of these races.

Carrollton Last Chance ReCap 1A-2A Oct 27, 2013

Landmark wasn't fooling around as they won both team races and Kathryn Foreman roared to a 18:43. Reilly Friedman cruised around the State course clocking a 16:56.

Carrollton 'Last Chance' This Saturday Oct 25, 2013

The Carrollton Last Chance meet  has been a staple here in Georgia since or around the State meet has been hosted there. The course has gone thru some radical alterations due to construction since 2003. My opinion, (for smart coaches who have big region meets) is.. this meet is what it is. A 'Last Chance' for runners to familiarize theirselves for what they shall face on November 9th, AND....perhaps a 'first chance' for schools who are confident they will qualify out of Regions. 85 schools will be running and 2400 athletes have been registered to compete. It will also serve as a dry run for State to be chip timed. MileSplit hopes to have a course video for viewing in a week or so. A Public has only 1 school competing Saturday (nearby Gordon Lee) these schools will struggle mightily on the hills of Carrollton in 2 weeks...
