This is why I say that on the men's side, it's hard to argue against GA in pro level production. And I mean that specifically in terms of producing elites (Olympic qualifiers, Olympic medalists, world champions, etc). We already have 2 GA Natives w/ titles so far: Kibwe Johnson in HT, and Reese Hoffa in SP (72'2.25, furthest throw in the world to this point).. And in the LJ, Dwight Phillips (Tucker Has, '96) would've been the heavy favorite (he was the 2011 world champ), but he was in a car accident earlier this yr and underwent surgery to try to lengthen his career. But there was a GA Native who qualified in the LJ, George Kitchens Jr. finished 3rd (leaped 26'11) and punched his own ticket to London.

When we look at the 2nd half of the meet there are plenty of Ga Natives left. There's Jordan Scott (former NCAA Champion, and a dark horse in the PV in my opinion). In the 400H, Angelo Taylor (2 time gold in 400H). And in the 110H, 3 of the 5 fastest times coming into the meet are from GA Natives (Aries Merritt - top time coming in, Dexter Faulk, Terrence Trammell). Four of the top 10 times are from GA Natives (Ty Akins has the 10th fastest time).

Oh yeah.. And of course Christian Taylor.. 2011 World Champ and has the furthest TJ in the world to this point.

Not a Georgia native but a current resident of the State of Georgia is Chaunte Lowe Howard in the Womens High Jump. She is the favorite to lead Team USA in the High Jump and she is also the 2011 Womens Indoor World Champion. She lives and trains here in Georgia.
We have a number of our nations top track athletes who live and train here and choose to call Georgia home but aren't natives. Their contribution is just as important.
