Hello Coaches this looks like the best high school performance ever at a state meet. This High School track athlete Nick Hartle from Nevada put the team on his back and carried them to a state championship by winning 4 events in the following times:

400-47.79
800-1:53
Mile-4:18
3200-9:28

I haven't seen this range of speed since Obea Moore, but if you have who else can or has this type of range?

I have seen him split 48 low on the 4 X 4.

This was done at the same meet...The state championship meet which was 2 days.

Not disagreeing with Coach Cage, but for discussion:

German Fernandez - 4:00.29/8:34.23 1600m/3200m all within 3 hours.

There also has to be someone that won the 1/2/LJ/TJ/4x1 somewhere.

There have been several people who won the sprint triple in other states (1-2-4) a jump and contributed on at least one relay.

Percy Harvin from Florida was a BEAST in track, too, during high school.

Lukas Verzbicas at the indoor nationals winning the mile-5000m races.

Having a kid with fast twitch mucle fibers to run a 47 second open 400 and then come back and run a 9:28 2 mile is pretty unique. Winning the 1,2,4x1, & triple is pretty much all speed and winning the mile-5000 is all distance. This performance just stuck out to me because I haven't seen a guy win a spint race (400) and a long distance race (3200). Coaches let me know if you know any high school kid that has done a unique performance like that at a state meet.

Such a performance will never happen in Georgia as long as Georgia only allows kids to run just two individual events - why would a coach enter a kid in the 400 and 3200 if he has a reasonable chance of winning the 400/800, or 800/1600, or 1600/3200?

I believe Wanliss (0:47 / 1:49) and Thornton (1:49 / 4:19 mile / 15:58 at Carrollton) from last year's epic 800 meter class A final could both exhibit similar range if allowed / encouraged to run all 4 events.
