    You're exactly right. For at least the 1600 and the 800 this is the hardest region in the state, including any of the 5A regions. Add to that Adam Jones and Bailey Roth and this is an intese sectional meet as well.

    It will be interesting to see in this and many of the sectionals how hard the distance kids push it, since 8 make it to State. Will winning Sectionals be a goal, or just making sure you qualify for State?

    I imagine just qualifying for state because what do you get for being Sectionals Champion? Is there even a such thing? From my understanding Sectionals will be like an invitational with Region times determining the seeding (which will probably be serpentine). Heat winners and next however many fastest qualify. No finals in Sectionals right?

    My understanding is that Sectionals are considered part of the State Meet - essentially the State Meet Semi-Finals. Which, if that's the case, can a State Record be set during the Sectionals? Could anyone who is better informed on this confirm if this would be correct? Thanks

    @sxm08 Good question!

    I doubt they would count any times from sectionals as "State Records" at either Jefferson or Albany. Different venues, weather, competition, etc...

    But let's be honest, do those "State Records" that are only listed in the meet program at both Jefferson and Albany really matter? We have the top ten listed in the history of Georgia on this site. Those to me are the state records. The ones in the program are the meet records.

    Although I probably shouldn't say that on here, if my AD saw it he'd be upset because that means Ralph King loses both his "Records"

    i agree with that totally. if the time can be verified (FAT) then it should be a record. professional guys dont have to wait until the olympics to set a world record. Why take away an accomplishment from a kid that worked his butt off? "Sorry son, I know the time is faster that anybody has ever ran in GA history, but since it wasnt in jefferson it doesnt count...

    @spxcoachrm Yes, 4:22 in 5th is a tough pill to swallow, but the bright side is he's got two more years (and the 32). Epps 4:19 is also very impressive. Chris Burnett of Woodward is a good story this season....although he had some solid results last spring and a decent fall, there was nothing to suggest he'd break out like he has.

    You guys think the distance was as advertised, wait until you see the sprints. 2 4x4 relays that are sub 3:20 and 2 or 3 more knocking on the door. You have to acknowledge the fact that the AAA #1 and #2 4x4 relays will be going head to head tonight and 6 of AAA top 10 relays are in our final. Most talented region by far.
