Kind of early, but these are girls athletes who are (or are on the cusp of becoming) on the top-10 all-time lists in Georgia, or who are definite “ones to watch”. Add in any that are missing…

Kendell Williams (Sophomore - Kell) - It'll be tough to top a national-caliber freshman season. 13.57 in the 100H (nwi), 41.30 in the 300H, 19’5” in the LJ and 5'9 in the HJ (at AAU JO) were highlights. She also ran 58.63 in the 400. And that was with hurdles in the way. See Dyestat coverage here: rise.espn.go.com/track-and-xc/us/features/2011-Tra....

Sub-5:00 in the 1,600: Allie Schaich (Senior - Lambert), Anna Bowles (Senior - Lakeside Evans), and Meghan Wetterhall (Junior - Lakeside Dekalb) are within 3 seconds. Grace Tinkey (Sophomore - First Presbyterian) might also be close in the right race. Schaich, Tinkey and Katie Townsend (Senior - Lakeside Evans) should also all be getting close to top 10 all-time in Georgia on the 3,200 list (joining Bowles, who’s already there).

Erika Rucker (Senior - Flowery Branch) – ran 54.27 for the 400 at AAU JO in June. That would be 5th all-time in Georgia. Also sub-55 is Felicia Brown (MLK), and there are a host of sub-56’ers right behind them.

Tatiyana Caffey (Freshman - unsure of school) – she could be the break-out story of the year. Before entering high school, she ran sub-58 in the 400, sub 2:12 in the 800, and 4:47 in the 1,500 (that’s sub-5:10 in the 1,600). All this past summer for Track Phi Track Club in Lithonia.

Mimieux Land (Junior - Monroe Comprehensive) – jumped 19’ ¼ (nwi) inch in summer track in the LJ…plus 40’ 3.75” (nwi) in the TJ and 5’9 in the HJ. Rare air for all 3 (and she’s just a junior).

Shelby Ashe (Senior - St. Pius), Daina Levy (Senior - Kennesaw Mtn) and Sarah Howard (Junior - Trinity Christian). The favorites for Queens of the Throws this year (although Throw One Deep always seems to have more in waiting). See the nice pre-season write-up on them here: rise.espn.go.com/track-and-xc/us/features/2011-Tra....

Nnenya Hailey (Junior - Mt. Vernon Presbyterian) – 13.82 (nwi) in the 100H in July at JO’s is outstanding. Also watch Morgan Snow (Senior - SW Dekalb), who posted 13.98 (nwi) at Albany.

Hadley Reed Hancock (Junior - Deerfield-Windsor Academy) and Samantha Becker (Senior - Milton) - Both have cleared 12'0 in the PV.

Make sure to watch out for these 2011 senior vaulters:
Caroline Bond, GAC, and Sam Sanchez, Blessed Trinity, I think their going give Reed and Becker a good run for their money. I just love the competition this year! Also sophomore Danielle Penk another star in the running, being only a sophomore and clearing 11-5ft is just astonishing. Tudos to all the vaulters mentioned, nice work girls!
