Wanliss and Thornton both go sub 1:50 in a photo finish! Image courtesy of Pinion Photography!! Every year we think that the previous year is as good as it gets but it just gets better every year.....The smoke has cleared, awards given out as another season of Boys Track has drawn to a close with quite a bang This is a brief summary of Saturday Finals (work in progress) of the Georgia Olympics....Never before has anyone broken 1:50.00 in the 800 Meters at State and O'Neal Wanliss and Cameron Thornton both did in Class A! The single A 800m was a race for the ages.... Most of us on the hill expected Wanliss to want the first lap a little slower because he had just blown away the field in the 400. He made us look stupid by opening with a 52! When Thornton pulled up along side with 300m to go we all thought Wanliss would have to give way. Again, he proved us wrong. They ran stride for stride until the finish. Everyone watched them finish so when we all turned to the clock their was an audible gasp as we saw 1:49. contributions by Claude Spinks, Walter Pinion and Adam Hearn
