The 2009 version of the Atlanta International Track Classic has the potential to be the most competitive event in its short history if a good portion of the entrants make it to Atlanta for Saturday. The number and quality of the athletes registered is very impressive. The economic crisis may have been a factor in fewer international entries but New Bern(NC) and neighboring states have made up for their absence along with all the Georgia athletes.

It was "Hotter than Georgia Asphalt" down in Albany and the young ladies torching the all weather surface got things so hot, that a storm blew in and cooled the mondo down for the final events after SW DeKalb's Kia Jackson's performances garnered her the Roy Crenshaw High Point Track Performance and Chalonda Goodman closed out a magnificent HS career by doubling in the 100/200m events all 4 years. When all the racing was done and the smoke had cleared, 5 Team State Champs were crowned.

Lauren displays the performance indicator with her top mark! Lauren Chambers and Amanda Winslow closed out their HS careers on a high note with new All-Class State Records Friday.
It was a day of 2a,4a and 5a Track prelims and the Finals in 5 distance races. Winslow, Wetterhall, McDaniel, Kester and Ramsey win the first Gold medals of the meet.

Can Towers High Star Brittany Porter Win 3 Individual Titles? Aah, the Girls State meet will begin in less than 2 days. This year its a week later into May which means more heat, humidity and gnats. But, it also means some great athletes will be competing on the highest stage in Albany's Hugh Mills Memorial Stadium. The concession stands also offer much better fare than Jefferson does, including hot fries right out of a big deep fryer. Enough of that though, lets get to the competition.

Kenneth Gilstrap and Kendrick Ings paved the road to the title for the Wolverines! Wade Voyles and Blair O'Bryant congratulate each other on a 1-2 finish! Images by Tim Rogan Design. What a Meet! 3 Classes coming down to the wire. A dominant performance by Parkview. A whale of a comeback by little ol' Warren County. A Green Wave of Tornadoes blowing into town. The Cats taking a title with a strong balance of Field and Track athletes. And last, but not least, Miller Grove putting it all together with their speed, talent and heart.

What a Meet! Multiple State Records Fall Including All-Class. DJ Smith Eyes 7-2! You wanted it, you got it. Another outstanding first 2 days of the Georgia Olympics with multiple Class state records and All-Class State records moving over for the new generation. The Field events have definitely got Memorial Stadium abuzz with monster throws, several High Jumpers flirting with the 7' barrier and a few select athletes meeting and exceeding the magic "7". Also an out of this world huge number put up in the Long Jump I'm sure Christian Taylor has heard about by now.
