McEachern Boys run #6 all time mark in 4x1600 to edge Hoover by .02 seconds!

Ben Hubers legend grows after an amazing performance at the 2006 GATFXC Coaches Invitational to lead the McEachern boys to a hard fought victory in the 4x1600 over Hoover, AL. Hubers split a 4:12 on the last leg to edge out the Hoover anchor by .02 seconds. Their time ranks as the sixth fastest all time in the state of Georgia. Collins Hill\'s girls were equally impressive in posting a 21:58 to hold off the Mountain Brook girls team in 22:07. In the girls 100m, freshman Chalonda Goodman, of Newnan, ran an impressive 12.29 to post the number one qualifying time for tomorrows finals. On the boys side, Jonathan Dwyer of Kell put up the top time in 10.70.

In feild event action, Donte Nall of Chapel Hill, went 6\'4\" in the high jump to take top honors. Oconee County\'s Adam Reed, showed that Jordan Scott isn\' t the only pole vaulting talent in Watkinsville as he went 14\' to win the vault. Greg Davis, of Starr\'s Mill, won a tight discus competition with his 156\'1\" throw to take the win over Israel Machovec who managed a 154\'10\" toss. Sister Eve Machovec, of Dacula, won a tight battle over Emily Bernhardt, of Lassiter, by a little over a foot as Machovec\'s best toss went 134\'6\" to Bernhardt\'s 133\'2\". Trey Charles, of Marietta, took control int he long jump, posting a winning leap of 22\'8 3\'4\" to edge out Dorrian Hankins of Creekside, who posted a 22\'3\".

Action will resume tomorrow at Georgia Tech with the running finals and the remainder of the field events.
