Wes Wright goes 59\'7\" in the shot put to take 2nd at NSIC

Wes Wright, of Villa Rica, put together a tremendous effort in the last round of competition to take the lead in the shot put competition with a throw of 59\'7\" only to see competitor Cameron Elisara, of New York, take the lead back with a throw of 61\'2\". Wright, only a sophomore, has posted some impressive numbers early this season and should be a title contender at the state meet in May.

Other Georgia competitors fared well on Saturday as well. Joanna Atkins qualified for the semis in the 400mand the 200m with a time of 56.03 in the long race and a 24.30 for the 200m. Armanti Hayes went 48.12 to qualify for the semis in the 400m and also qualified for the next round in the 200m. Evander Wells has put on a show in the 60m and 200m. WIth the top qualifying time in the 60m and the second fastest time in the 200m, Evander appears primed for a big day today as he looks to move on. Justin Christian, of Morrow HS has the second fastest qualifying time in the 60m and also qualified in the 200m, giving Georgia 3 in the semis.
