St. Pius Gals Perfect Score Peachtree Stage Races

There was some great racing this past weekend ending Week 1.  St. Pius X girls perfect scored (Varsity and JV) at the Peachtree Stage Races, which were held on a new venue at Chattahoochee Point Park (only the powerful Collins Hills girls from the first decade of the 21st Century have accomplished this) Morgan Vaden was the top Lioness clocking a 12:10 in State 5.

At the Zack Wansley  Clash, Erin Fegans of Landmark Christian won by a large margin going 19:16 at Clinton Farms. Chapel Hill's girls took the team scoring 51 points.

At the Mercy Invite, Reagan Mahoney won impressively posting a 19:27 on the 3 loop course. 7A Centennial was too deep for the field taking the team title by 28 points over surpring GISA school Augusta Prep. Isabella Du Plessis was the top Knight going 20:27.

On Friday at the Battle of the Fairways contested on Fairways of Canton Golf Course, it was a duel for the overall title, with Elle Hall of Marietta crossing the line at 11:46, nipping Brynn Sumner of Woodstock a couple strides back at 11:47. Marietta won Stage 5 by 29 points over Walton.

Grace Ellsworth of Hillgrove ran a 5:44 second mile  on the Cobb County course Friday afternoon.  Ellsworth went 11:36 for a full 2 miles.

Jackie Addy of Holy Innocents' Episcopal ran a Meet and School record 11:03 for 3200 meters in the 5th Annual Battle of Sandy Springs.  She came mighty close to breaking 11 in the very first meet of the year.  She will return to action at the WingFoot Invite in late September.

Etowah took the win over Creekview by 2 points at the Cherokee XC Classic. Taking the top 2 spots for them were former MS State champ Sydney Runyan at 19:30 and freshman Makenna Calbert going 19:34. One has to wonder where was 2017 6A State Champ Makena Gates of Creekview...

Laney Doster from Jones County took the overall win at Into the Trail Invitational at 20:06. I a close team race, Pope outlasted Union Grove by 5 points for the team title.

At the Hoya 2 Mile, Riley Perlakowski of host Harrison took 1st clocking a 12:06, but West Forsyth ran very strong taking the team win having 4 runners in the top 10 scoring only 32 points.

At the tough Kosh Classic course, Chloe Hetherington of Mountain View HS had an impressive 20:10 taking the individual win. Archer's gals took the team title with 54 points.

Down in Perry at the Mid State Classic, held on a new venue at  Cherokee Pines Golf Course, Veterans' Mackenzie Walls destroyed the field posting a 18:52. In a hotly contested team race, Mary Persons took the win by 1 point over local squad Perry HS, with Lee County 6 points back.
