Telfair County Surprises Gordon Lee, O'Neal Wins Overall Going Away

Arneshia Hardee and Shayla Cook led Telfair to their 1st XC State title.

One who pays attention to A Public, had to notice Area 2's Girls results. Telfair, with a team average of 22:10... Normally, one would assume the course was short or not legit. But, on 2nd glance it should have been a wakeup call for Gordon Lee to be ready for a race.

Shayla Cook earned Overall Runnerup honors

Watching runners come out of the horseshoe on Loop 1.. Telfair was for real. They pulled off the upset, by having more depth from 2-5. They did not worry about Gracie O'Neal upfront, but ran their race, with Shayla Cook Overall runnerup in 22:20 and Arneshia Hardee 5th at 23:03.

Grace O'Neal is just a sophomore, and could win alot more State titles in the next 3 years.

Gordon Lee secured 2nd on the team Podium just holding off Towns County. Gracie O'Neal had went sub 20: this Fall, and she had a strong race taking the Individual title in 20:23, which is a solid time any class for a female at Carrollton. 

Hannah Whitehead led the Indians attack, like she has since her frehman year.

Towns County's run of 5 consecutive A Public tiltles was ended on Saturday, but not without the Indians putting up a fight and finishing 2 points behind Gordon Lee. Top runner Hannah Whitehead led the way once again taking 8th place at 23:15. Atlanta Classical improved upon their #6 ranking, making the final team Podium spot of the meet. They did it by running as a pack with a sweet 1-5 split of 1:05. Top runner for them was Clara Mastrion in 24th place.

Maya Wynn of Furlow Charter placed 3rd Overall.

Rounding out the the top 10 Individuals, were: Maya Wynn of Furlow Charter (3rd-22:24), Katelyn Taylor of ACE Charter (4th-22:50), Kate Massey of Commerce (6th-23:06), Brett Landing of Jenkins County (7th-23:10), Brittany Webb (9th-23:22) and Masey Tabb of Seminole County (10th-23:29)
