Westminster Boys Take Team Title, Devan Crow Races to Individual Crown

AAA Boys

In AAA Boys, Westminster did what they often do best, beat all challengers at Carrollton the first Saturday in November. The Wildcats had too much upfront (3 top 10 finishes), and bested all of Dawson County's counterparts from their respective 1-7 spots, resulting in 50 points for a 24 point margin of victory (not sure if they celebrated with the 'V' twirl on the Podium like back in the day)

Leading the Cats' quest for their 7 title in 10 years was Will Wallace (c), who was Overall runnerup clocking a 17:32, Peter Huff in 6th place at 17:11 and Zach Roe a few meters back in 7th going 17:16.

Devan Crow from Hall County, was not to be denied his rightful place on the throne, as Crow motored to AAA Boys Individual glory, holding off any challenges, roaring down the final hill posting a 16:26.

Dawson County was game and should hold their heads up high, as the Tigers ran their kiester's off, but came up short of a rare defeat of Westminster's XC machine. Cody Wood led the valiant charge making All-State taking 8th at 17:18. Their top 5 had an admirable 1-5 split of :41, which is how they stayed in the same zip code as the Cats'

Heading into Loop 2 it was anyone's race..

Pace Academy took advantage of perhaps a overall hard day for North Hall, moving into the 3rd team Podium spot besting the Trojans by 9 points. Leading Pace was their ace, Jack Douglass (rear), placing 4th overall in 16:44. Also having a big day for them in 13th place was George Adams at 17:28. North Hall hung on for the final team Podium spot, behind Crow's win and a solid race by frosh Andrew Jones seizing 11th place at 17:20.

It was a jailbreak for the finish line for All-State squad honors!

4 runners not on Podium teams, made All-State honors, including: Shane Shelafoe from East Jackson grabbing 3rd overall in 16:38, Lance Underwood from Union County taking 5th place at 16:52, Jackson Borden of Lovett back in 9th going 17:18, and Cameron taylor from Long County in SE Georgia wrapping up a 10th place finish in 17:19.
