Hebron Christian School: 11th at Gwinnett County Meet… 18:04 Average.. Coach Mike Beaudreau’s top six all were at Coach Benson’s Smoky Mountain camp this summer and that has continued to translate well this summer/fall. They improved their team average at the GC Meet by 11 seconds over Carrollton. Junior Brandon Potra (17:34), Sophomore Ethan Selph (17:45), and Junior Michael Fabiano (18:04) currently lead the Lions as they hope to return to the top of the podium. They are scheduled to race Darlington so excited to see what kind of times this team can throw down. Clearly the favorite for the Single A State Team Championship right now.

12th @ Gwinnett County Meet…. 18:15 Average. Coach McDaniel’s squad missed the State Meet in 2016 and seem to be on a mission this fall. They improved once again from last week and matched Hebron’s time average from Carrollton. This squad is definitely hungry and are a strong contender for the podium on Friday November 3rd. Freshmen Mac Howie (17:51) and Senior Peter Hess (18:04) currently lead the Wolves. Howie is currently one of the top frosh in Single A. Senior Jeb Brown (18:13) has stepped his game up as well. Good to see this squad back in contention.

Coach Thorn once again had his line-up in various races. That changes this weekend as his squad is entered in the Championship Division of the Wingfoot Classic. Currently freshmen sensation Zach Truitt leads this squad but we will find out how good Landmark can potentially be this weekend. They drop to three mainly because of how good Wesleyan was at the Gwinnett County Meet not because of their own talent.

10th @ Warpath Invite…. 17:43 Average… They ran incredibly well at Warpath led by Devin Wade (16:58) who instantly made himself an All-State contender this fall. We will see how good this team can be at Darlington (one of the Single A Area Meet courses). Zach Justice and Sean Morris also ran in the mid 17s for Whitefield this past weekend. This could be a squad that still could contend for the State Title. Darlington will give us more of those answers.
5
10th @ Double Dip Invite…. Athens Academy looks to be a potential podium team. They had three runners under 18 minutes at the Coach Benson Invite. They are led by Junior Alex Branch and Senior Ryan Iyer who both have top 10 potential come November 3rd. They are scheduled to compete at Wingfoot and may need improvement from 4-7 to make the podium at State.

Senior Alex Van Schoor debuted over 5K (17:31) this weekend for the Scots. They will have their full squad hopefully at Wingfoot so we will see how close this team is to the podium after Saturday. Coach Beatty always has his teams ready to go in October/November. Single A has 9-10 squads that could make the podium and Galloway is certainly one of those teams.
7
Off… Senior Blake Morain (18:04) had a strong race for the Golden Bears at Marist vaulting this team one spot for now in the rankings. They are also scheduled for the Darlington Invite so that will be a great mid-season test for this squad to see if they are a potential podium team this fall.

5th at the Strong Rock Invitational.. 19:15 Average. Hank Guinade and Justin George currently lead the Patriots. They both ran in the 17s on their home course and can contend for All-State honors come November. Looks like they have not raced their full Varsity in a couple of weeks but hopefully they will be at Wingfoot or Darlington in the next couple of week.

Off. They will be racing at Wingfoot and Darlington so we will see how good this team can be. Their biggest advantage is 2015 State XC Champion Griffin McCauley who returns this fall and is 100 percent healthy. So far, he has run 16:13 on the Georgia Meet of Champions course. They have a strong top 3 and now need to find a 4-5 to contend for the podium/make the State Meet come late October.

We keep them in the top 10 as the Darlington Invite (30th) approaches. No other reason then this team has a tendency of racing well at home and improving as the season goes on.

Single A Private (like SEC Football) is uber competitive and this year up to 10 or more teams have the potential to make the podium (Top 4 teams) at State. Excited to see what the next two weeks brings.
