Colorado Writes Headlines Large At Arcadia

Madison Mooney celebrates an Invitational Mile win over Sammy Watson Saturday night at Arcadia.

Colorado's milers showed up in a big way Saturday night at Arcadia.

Madison Mooney took the girls mile, defeating national phenom Sammy Watson in the process, with a 4:47.32. Peak to Peak's Quinn McConnell finished fifth in the same event with a 4:51.74.

A few minutes later, Isaac Green lit up the boys invitational mile field with a 4:09.69, edging Patrick Parker of American Fork. And, that race might have been faster still had not both Green and Parker had a serious relay leg on their legs from the night before. Jeremy Meadows finished in 4:18.50 in the same event.

For Green, that serious relay leg the night before came as part of a third-place 7:47.02 4x800 effort.

Peak to Peak's girls also posted a nice 4x800, going 9:22.60 in their effort.

The most glaring setback for Colorado came in the 3200, where Claudia Lane edged Brie Oakley at the finish, 9:57.52 to 9:57.59. Both times beat the existing meet record. Maria Mettler took sixth in 10:20.82.

Air Academy's Ethan Powell won the Seeded Mile in 4:18.62. Charlie Perry took fourth in the seeded 3200 with a 9:07.07. Ivy Gonzales posted a 10:55.76 in the Rated 3200.

Several more Colorado efforts were recorded. These, however, are the ones that stand out most among the crowd.
