15 Schools and nearly 500 athletes outlasted a noon time deluge that lasted over an hour at the Big Orange Jungle Saturday. But, the skies cleared allowing for some great competition on the track.

Elija Godwin, from 2016 AAAAAA State Champ Newton, put on a show winning three individual events and leading the 4x400 squad to 1st place. Godwin began his day on the infield winning the TJ with a mark of 45-7.75, then transitioned to the track after a heavy shower sweeping the short sprints going 10.77 in the 100m, followed by 21.59 in the 200m, and ended his day leading the Ram's 4x400 squad to a 3:26.10 win.

Host Parkview, had a big day winning the team title by 39, scoring big points in the Sprints, 4x100 and Jumps. Demarius Smith had a big day for the Panthers, winning the 400m at 50.98, 2nd in the 200m at 22.18, and was part of Parkview's 1st place 4x100 squad that clocked a 42.47. Amir Harris also had a strong day, winning the LJ with a leap of 22-9.50, 2nd in the 100m at 11.09, 3rd in the 200m at 22.23 and also was on the winning 4x100 squad. Also chipping in with wins were: Cameron Chavers in the HJ (5-10), and Brian Hauch in the PV (13-2.50)

Foot Locker Cross Country All-American Jacob McLeod, cashed in on a long trip from Dublin (GISA Trinity Christian, and cruised to a win in the 1600m race clocking a 4:25. Dax Willette from Rockdale County won the 3200m going 9:38, after placing 2nd in the 1600m at 4:29.

Aweng Mawien is way ahead in the 300 hurdles

It came down to the 4x400 relay to determine the Girls team title as Shiloh held on for a 6 point margin of victory over Peachtree Ridge. Leading the way for the Lady Generals was Aweng Mawien as she won the 400m at 58.63, then ran away with the 300h going 44.75. She also helped Shiloh to 2 second place finishes in the relays, after getting her day started placing 2nd in the HJ. Jessica Shelley won the 100m at 13.01, was 2nd in the 200m, and was part of both 2nd place relay squads. Krishtian Sonny won the 800m in 2:35 and placed 2nd in the TJ bounding to 35-9.50 and Ronje Williams won the HJ with a clearance of 5-0.


Peachtree Ridge was led by Paityn House as she won the 200m dash in 26.78, placed 2nd in the 400m at 1:00.53 and was part of The Ridge's winning 4x100 squad (49.36) and 4x400 (4:10.87) Maikayla McIntyre won the TJ with a mark of 35-11.75, was 2nd in the 100m, 3rd in the LJ and part of the 4x100 squad.
