Monroe Albany Pours it On Saturday Taking the 4A Girls Title.

It came as no surprise that Monroe was able to recapture the team title with Marist studs Ilse and Faust at major colleges plying their wares. Some of their fans fretted a bit after the 400m dash, but the Tornadoes continued to roll up major points in nearly every event after the 400.They began Finals with 20 points from the Field, but cranked it up early taking Gold in the 4x100 in 46.17. Leading point getters for Monroe this weekend were Jahari Williams who won the LJ with a leap of 19-08, and won a pair of Silvers in the short sprints 11.83 (100) and 23.82 (200) J'Milya Poole swiped a 2nd in the 300h at 42.24 and placed 7th in the 400m. Jaeda Hunt scored in the LJ placing 5th and added a 4th in the 400m and 200m races. Monroe went out in style taking the 4x400 as usual, clocking 3:45.58 as well as their B squad placing 7th.

Marist did have 62.5 points coming in a strong 2nd Overall as they scored well in many events. You always have to begin with their distance gals, as soph Josie Wirtz swept both distance events taking a hard earned win over a healthy (Clemson bound)Jenna Gearing of White County for the War Eagles, clocking a 5:07.17 and 10:54.72. Tamira Gitonga added a Gold to her resume winning the 300h in an upset going 42.21 along with 5th in the 400m. Kamryn Brinson won Silver in the Shot Put with a toss of 41-1, Anais Marenco won Bronze in the Pole Vault with a bar of 10-0 and the 4x400 squad placed 4th at 3:54.92.


Woodward Academy had a nice meet taking 3rd as a team winning 3 Golds in the Field, led by Throws specialist Makenli Forrest, who doubled going 45-0 in the Shot and 133-8 in the Discus. Alex Potts didn't disapoint winning the Pole Vault with a clearance of 11-6. and a Silver in the 800m race at 2:18.28. ERica Evans added 5 points in 3 events.

Mt. Zion Jonesboro was the final team to climb the Team Podium placing 4th with 39 points. Leading scorers for them were Tyeisha Juhan who won the TJ with a mark of 40-4.25, 2nd in the LJ at 18-11.50 and 6 points in a crazy tie for 2nd. Imani Carmouche who won the HJ at 5-08 and the Dogs picked up in the 4x100 at 47.54. Also competing well were Fayette County, Hampton, Chamblee, Buford, Mary Persons and Baldwin (who missed Daloria Boone now at a GISA school) Amecia Pennamaon of Mary Persons doubled in short sprints going 11.76 and 23.81.
