North Springs Charges Hard in Final 2 Events Repeating in 5A

As in the preview, the gap had began to narrow between North Springs and several other teams, but the Lady Spartans 300 hurdlers and 4x400 squad scored 21 crucial points in the final 2 events to come from behind, holding off upset minded Warner Robins and Chapel Hill to defend their 5A title. It was alot tougher going though than 2015, as the Spartans only picked up 2 Golds, but were spurred on by other scoring opportunities. Bria Dean and Jayda Drake-Howard led their efforts. Dean by winning the Long Jump with a mark of 19-10.25 and placing 5th in the 100h and then a crucial 6th the 300h. Howard began the surge back taking 2nd in the 300h going 42.85 after placing 5th in the 400m. Both were also part of 18 huge relay points with a 3rd in the 4x100 @ 47.16 and their winning 4x400 time of 3:47.82 and the B squad added a 7th.

Warner Robins did not have as many scoring opportunities, but was driven by LSU bound, top Sprinter for 2016 Cassondra Hall, as they blasted around the track scoring 44 points for 2nd Overall. Hall, took Top Performer honors in the 100m dash clocking a 11.49 and later took Gold in the 200m dash, easily winning posting a 23.88. The Lady Demons relay squads were on fire, taking a pair of Silvers home. First in the 4x100 at 46.73 and 3:50.51 in the 4x400. Shaianne Sipsey added 8 points with a 4th in the 400m and 6th in the 800m.

Chapel Hill ended a great season placing 3rd overall in the team scoring with 40 points. Leading the Panthers' efforts were Kayla Alexander who scored Gold in the 100h posting a 14.36 and part of Chapel Hill's winning 4x100 squad that went 46.54 (8th LJ). Also adding points were Angel Amadi placing 3rd in the 100m (11.88), Kendria Edouard took 3rd in the 400m at 55.37, then 5th in the 800m.


Starrs Mill poured it early in the Field Thursday making the difference for 4th Overall. Leading Starrs were Abigail Dickinson taking home Gold in PV with a bar of 11-0. Alexis Farley scored a pair of Silvers in the Horizontals, 39-10 in the TJ and 19-3 in the LJ. (6th 100h) Madeline Hammond also won Silver in the HJ with a bar of 5-6. On the outside looking in were Creekview at 5th overall, followed by Mays a point back. Alyssa LeClaire of McIntosh swept both distance events. Timberly Molden from Stephenson swept both Throws events in a big upset...
