3A Come and See the Show...

Sandy Creek though has an athlete with greatness in his future in Christian Taylor who is the #1 ranked HS athlete in the USA in both the TJ(51-10) and LJ(25-4.5) and he also has clocked a season best time in the 400 of 47.08 and he anchors both of the Patriot's 3A best performance relay teams. One man...=50 points with a little help from his friends Rhyan Atrice, Darius Harris, Andrew Roberts and Bruce Truitt who all will be in individual events with scoring potential. Westminster managed to still qualify their best athletes for State and if they perform up to their rankings performances have a legitimate chance at taking the team title. The Wilcats strengths this year have been in the Field Events and distance. Tucker Hartley has been doubling up in almost every meet he has competed in and it will be quite interesting to find out what he can do on just 1 race a day. He could no doubt be in the mix till the finish line in the 1600 and 3200m and it helped the Widcats out that Max Dutcher also Q'd for the 3200. In the Field they are capable of stringing together points in the Discus, Vault and High Jump. But all Westminster can do is sit and watch Saturday as they will have no entries on Saturday...

The Flowery Branch Falcons though have become a 3A powerhouse this season and could have a very healthy lead after Thursday's Field Events. Daniel Drummond has bombed the Discus out to 168-0 and has been very consistent in doing so. He also has the 2nd best mark in the Shot at 55-10 only trailing Nationally ranked Wesley Wright of Villa Rica who has a monsterous pr of 62-11 as well as a 168-3 mark in the Discus. Flowery also has a 6-8 High Jumper in Otis Clark and Norvelle Vann will definitely assist in the Vault and both Hurdles events. Monroe has qualified a stable of athletes and Montravious Williams in the Hurdles events has the potential to come up with big points along with David Noel in the Discus and their 4x400 squad. Shaw and Carver have some great athletes and could be on that leaderboard also.

Some individuals to keep an eye on are Charlie Sparks in the 1600 and 3200(in which he is the defending Champ) Nick Long in the 800 and especially the 1600 in which he has clocked a 4:22 this season. Wesley Wright as mentioned earlier in the Throws and of course Christian Taylor in every event he is in. Some races that are going to be photo finishes will be the 100m dash in which there are no clear favorites, 110h(same scenario), 200m dash and 300h.
