Atlanta Track Club Hosts 52nd Annual All-Metro Cross Country Awards Banquet


ATLANTA -- December 3, 2015 -- Atlanta Track Club honored 42 of the best runners in metro Atlanta at the All-Metro High School Cross Country Awards Banquet on Wednesday, December 2. Each year, Atlanta Track Club hosts the All-Metro Awards Banquet as part of its commitment to recognize outstanding high school track and field and cross country athletes.


Honorees selected included nine runners who qualified for the national championships, seven state champions and nine state runners-up. Once selected, the coaches and public voted on their placement among the 1st, 2nd and 3rd All-Metro teams. Each member of the 1st teams received a $500 scholarship. The top ranked male and female runner were named Most Oustanding Cross Country Athlete. The 2015 Most Outstanding Athletes are:

Two coaches were also acknowledged for their outstanding dedication to the sport of Cross Country. Nominations were accepted for the awards from the community. Coach Jeannie Ledford of Towns County High School received the Paul Koshewa Award for her work with the girls cross country team over the past 15 years. She has developed a program in the 1A Public division that has dominated their division for the last several years, amassing four consecutive state titles while simultaneously fostering a new running community in rural Towns County

Coach Claud Spinks of Eagles Landing High School received the Jerry Frasier Award for more than 20 years of coaching. He has also consistently hosted quality meets in McDonough, including the Battle of Atlanta Invitational.
