Lovett's Serena Tripodi placed 6th Overall Saturday at the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional held in Cary NC, Qualifying as an Individual punching her ticket to Portland, Oregon this Wednesday. Triopdi clocked a fast 17:37.90 to earn the coveted trip to NXN Nationals where every athlete gets the '5 Star' Nike hospitality. Serena spoke about her race below with ga.milesplit.com. "Yesterday was a great day for racing, the weather was perfect, and I felt ready to race once the gun went off. The race started off very quick, mainly because the start is all downhill. Once it evened out in the woods, there were lots of girls already fighting to get the top spots. We came through the mile in about 5:17. Then after that, it was all about place, and who could hang on the longest. The last finishing hill was extremely tough, but once I passed the finish line it was such a relief. Since I got 6th though, I had to wait about 45 minutes to hear if I qualified, which was agonizing. Although, once I heard the good news it was all worth it, and I'm so excited to compete in Portland next Saturday!"
