7-AAAAAA ReCap, Mill Creek Sweeps Team and Individual Titles

Mill Creek swept all the titles at the 7-AAAAAA meet as expected heading into State. The Hawks were challenged a bit on the Boys side, but their Girls were too deep and fast for the field. (all photos by Chris d' Aquin)

Mill Creek Boys Celebrate their Region title.

Varsity Boys Team- Mill Creek was the fave going in and stood fast winning a close battle over Peachtree Ridge by 12 points for the team title. Mountain View has ran well all Fall and will move on to State after their 3rd place finish as will Huddy's troops from Collins Hill back in 4th.

Hot action early on in the Boys Varsity race in 7-AAAAAA

Varsity Boys Individual- It was a killer race for Overall honors as a trio of Seniors, including Sam Costa and Noah Hollis of Mill Creek did battle with Mountain View's Tyler Barber until the final stride! Costa prevailed taking first in a 'Finish Lynx' photo finish over team mate Hollis, as the duo were separated by .09..!! Barber was 7-8 meters back for 3rd at 16:17. 'Ridge Boys' Sr. Nathan Reichard was 4th in 16:29 followed by freshman understudy Chase Condra 5th at 16:35. Gavin Childers of Mill Creek was a step back in 6th at 16:36

It became an incredible battle between Costa, Hollis and Barber the final mile.

Sam Costa sprints in for the win, with Hollis 2nd and Barber 3rd.

Mill Creek easily won the 7-AAAAAA Girls team title

Varsity Girls Team- The girls race was no contest for the team title as Mill Creek smoked the 7-AAAAAA field placing 5 gals in the top 7 spots scoring 21 points with a 1-5 Split of :57 Their depth was impressive as the 6 & 7 placed 13th and 16th as well. North Gwinnett was a strong 2nd, followed by Peachtree Ridge with Norcross grabbing the final State spot taking 4th.

Siblings, Camryn (L) and Hannah Petit (R) had a duel for family honors at the Horse Park

Varsity Girls Individual- The Hawks swooped down and grabbed 5 of the top 7 Individual places led by Overall Champ Soph Camryn Petit's winning effort of 19:06. Hannah Petit was close behind taking 2nd at 19:13. Breaking up the Hawk's perfect scoring the team points were Mary Kathryn Knott of the Ridge 3rd (19:29), Kimmie Whiting from North Gwinnett 4th (19:45) Mill Creek ate up the next 3 places led by Alexandra Froh's 5th (19:56) and Sara Scales 6th (19:56).

Camryn Petit may be the 'Alpha' after winning the Region title going away.
