Keough took the race out early with Griff McCauley of Paideia (new unis) sticking around for almost 2 laps 10 meters back. Reilly Friedman of Galloway, Trent Johnson of Hebron Christian, Adam Hearn of Athens Academy and Colson Hagan formed a chase pack with Paideia's Max Heaberlin coming up to join them after beginning the race in last position. McCauley began to fall off Keough's pace with Friedman, Johnson and Heaberlin passing on the backstretch on lap 3. Keough had the race firmly in hand crossing the finish line in 4:17. Friedman hung tough moving up a bit for 2nd at 4:21 while Heaberlin stayed strong passing Johnson for 3rd in 4:26. Johnson closed in 4th place (4:26) while Adam Hearn nipped McCauley for 5th both clocking 4:30's (-.75)
