Westlake's Lady Lions 3-Peat Roaring Over the Competition

The Lions began Saturday with 34 points out of their Field Events with alot of chances to score waiting for them to pounce all over. They began the day with their 'B' 4x100 squad placing 4th in 47.55, Kennedy Simon added a 4th in the 400m (53.72), Justice Reeves added a 4th in the 100m (12.14), Anriel Howard grabbed 5th in the 800m (2:14). Westlake had a banner day in the 300 Hurdles scoring 14 points as the duo of Kennedy Simon (42.85) and Kayla Stinson (42.87) were separated at the finish line by .02. The Lions then celebrated with 4 victory laps in the 4x400 placing 3rd (3:51.20) and 8th.

Grayson only had a few athletes, but they made the most out of their opportunities seizing 2nd scoring 42 points. (40 of them during Finals!) The Rams scored 18 points in the Relays beginning with a win in the 4x100 besting #1 McEachern (46.58) and ended the meet with a deuce in the 4x400 (3:47.04)

Serenity Douglas of Archer, Aliyah Abrams of Grayson and Makenzie Dunmore of McEachern ALL blew up the old State Meet Record in the 400 Meter Dash (pic by Dan McCauley)

Aliyah Abrams was fantastic in the 400m dash setting a new State meet record in 53.10 and in a negative wind ran 23.72 in the 200m. Sydney Davis picked up a 5th in the 200m (56.37).

McEachern began the day with 0 points but poured on 38 tacos during Finals led by their Relay squads who placed 2nd in the 4x100 (47.0) and ended on a high note in the 4x400 winning an exciting race in 3:46. Makenzie Dunmore scored 14 points placing 2nd in the 400m (eclipsing the old record) in 53.32 and took 3rd in the 200m (23.79)

Campbell on the strength of their Hurdles who scored 23 points and shot up to seize the final Team Podium Spot with 28 points. Alexis Jones outraced a pair of Lions in the 300 Hurdles winning the title in 42.12 (also took 6th in the 100h), Erin Hardnett placed 2nd in the 100 Hurdles at 14.28 while 7th in the 300h.

Marietta and Rockdale County finished in a draw with 25 points each. Candace Hill outdid herself again as the US #1 swept the Sprints in an amazing new State Meet records in spectacular fashion going 11.34 in the 100m dash and an even tighter 23.05 (-.9 wind) WOW!! Mary Jeanne Assinzo from Marietta HS won a very competitive 800m race in 2:12.41 (brutal HEAT) and by placing 5th in the 1600m (5:01) Tatiyana Rayford from Woodstock was your Gold medalist in the 100 Hurdles in 13.99.
