Harper Sigler of North Oconee leads the pack in the Final heat of the Boys 800 enroute to 1:57

It was definitely a tough day to compete for any of the athletes, but 6A Newton Boys won the team title by 51 points. Newton dominated the Sprints scoring 46 points in the Relays, 18 in the Sprints led by Artice Hobbs and Alex Sands sweeping the 100m Dash. Aziriah Foster doubled in the Hurdles also. In the distance events defending 4A champ Harper Sigler had too much footspeed the final 150m gapping the chase pack winning in 1:57. Tyler Jones of NOHS won the 3200m at 9:51 in a very competitive race and East Jackson's Chase Kennedy came from behind taking the 1600m in 4:31 edging Michael Hans of Oconee in 4:32. Rockdale's Jeremiah Holloman bounded 46-9 in the TJ and Keijna Thomas doubled in the Throws including a heave of 50-1 in the Shot.

Newton County swept both team titles, as their girls scored 104.5 winning by 20 points over an improved Apalachee squad, with North Oconee a scant point back and Flowery Branch 2 points in the rear. The Rams did it in similar fashion like their boys team scoring heavily in the Relays, Hurdles and Jumps (80 points) Brianna Hayden won the TJ (36-7.5), Ciara Bryan took the LJ (17-2) and Deandre McKenzie swept the 300h/100h. Sue Anne Moralis of the host Eagles won the 800m in less than ideal conditions in 2:23 and doubled up in the 1600m. Brianna Sims of Winder-Barrow doubled in the Throws including a toss of 39-2 in the Shot.
