Mountain Invitational at Unicoi State Park is the Largest and Most Competitive Ever..

On the girls side, All Class ranked South Forsyth is the favorite going away, but there is serious depth in this field.  White County, Grayson, Hart, Johnson, Buford, North Hall, and Winder all look to have a shot at a top 3 team trophy.  Finishing top 10 as a team in this field won't be easy, as 16 of the 33 teams running are ranked in their respective classifications.

Individually, South Forsyth's Savannah Carnahan and White County's Jenna Gearing will be the front runners, with strong challenges from South's Kaylee DuPont, Hart's Audrey Honiotes, and North Hall's Makayla Ellis.  It's a high quality field as the top 10 girls coming into the race have already hit 19s sometime this season.

The boys trophies look completely up for grabs as All Class Forsyth Central and North Hall go at it with South Forsyth, East Jackson, and Pickens.  Again, a top 10 team finish here is quality as 13 of the 33 schools running are ranked in the state.

Individually, the boys race should be the best of the day as 25 kids have already broken into the 16s this season.  This competition should push out some great times on the evening.  Sean Parker of Pickens, Quintin Miles of North Hall, and Chase Kennedy of East Jackson lead a phenomenal group of runners!  The boys race will be fun to watch up front with a great pack working to chase down the leaders.

There are 23 Middle School teams registered and ready to go!  Unicoi's course starts in a flat grassy field and runners wind their way to a gravel segment taking them behind the trees and then back into the field.  The mile splits are quick, but here comes that mountain on the 2nd mile.  Runners charge up a steep mountain trial only a runner or two wide and then come down the back side, running the grass back home to the finish line.

Thursday should be a great celebration of the sport we love!!  Run Hard, Run Humble, Run Happy.  Coach Borg
