Team Title Projections for GHSA Girls State Meet

Going Into Saturday Finals at GHSA Girls State

A Public-

Gordon Lee as expected cleaned up in the Field Events and scored a few in the distance finals giving then 70 points, but only have 3 scoring ops Saturday. Georgia Military Prep (22) and Marion County (34) may have an outside shot of making it interesting in a 4x400 finale.

A Private-

ELCA looks very strong coming into Saturday to win the A Private state title and only sits a couple points back. Athens Christian, currently 2nd,  has a real team effort with no superstars, and will need to make the most of their scoring ops to have a chance to defend their title.  OLM could surge into 2nd on the Podium with their speed. The last Podium spot is up for grabs....

2A-

Lovett, sitting pretty atop the scoreboard with 58 points, has several scoring chances available with top athletes and should enjoy a sunny afternoon.  Expect Khadejah Jackson to slam the door shut after the conclusion of the 300 hurdles.  Thomasville will be gunning for their best finish in school history and much of that lies in how Mahogony Walter does in the short Sprints.

3A-

Look for 6AAA schools Blessed Trinity, St.Pius X, Woodward and Maynard Jackson and Decatur perhaps  to begin their march up the ol' scoreboards come Saturday finals.  This class may come down to the 4x400m relay which would be quite awesome.  Mary Terry of North Oconee could be key in NOHS making the top 4 in the hurdles events.

4A-

Its all but over in the competition for the 4A team title as metro powerhouse Marist should have an enjoyable sunny day down her in ALB boasting 74 points with only 3 (albeit strong) scoring chances. Monroe Albany would have a chance to catch them if they had not lost a former star athlete. Podium slots are wide open after these 2 schools.

5A-

Pope performed very well in the first 2 days and is the favorite to leave ALB with the 5A team title with 38 points. Miller Grove is very dangerouus and if they perform to their capabilities could overtake the Greyhounds...NS Warner Robins speed could boost them easily into contention for a title. New Manchester will make some noise as their strengths lie in the sprints, relays and hurdles

6A-

Marietta currently sits atop the board, but expect their stock to fall and rise Saturday. McEachern has but 3 team points, but that will drastically change beginning with the 4x100m relay. Westlake came thru prelims with flying colors and is the favorite to dominate on Saturday as projected by ga.milesplit. Archer should thrive in the speed events and surpass many schools during finals.
