4th Annual Eagle Invitational ReCap

                                                           4th Annual Eagle Invitational ReCap

Tyler Jones of North Oconee leads a strong pack including Morgan Bishoff of ACS in the 1600

Longtime state champion coach Roger Edmonds said his Jags program got off to a late start this season but Cedar Shoals boys had just too much speed and depth for everyone taking the team title scoring 139.5 points. Cedar picked up big points in the Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps and especially the Relays for a comfortable 65 point margin of victory. Despite missing much of their team to the ongoing GHSA Basketball playoffs defending A Private state champ Athens Christian reeled off 75 points placing 2nd ahead of AAA Oconee County with 69. Tyler Jones of North Oconee swept the 1600/3200. Oconee's Wesley Walters cleared 13-06 winning in the PV.

Athens Christian took back home the Girls team trophy with a narrow win over Cedar Shoals by 7 points. The Golden Eagles feasted on the Field Events, Hurdles and NEGA Cross Country 'Runner of the Year' Gabby Cortese's wins in the 1600 and 3200 (11:49) and ACS girls swept the PV for 18 points. Cedar excelled as usual in the relays (sweeping the 4x100/200/400), sprints and jumps in scoring 93 points finishing a strong 2nd led by freshman Cierra Pittard. North Oconee enjoyed a successful outing placing 3rd with 74. Mary Terry scored 28 points doubling in the HJ (5-6) /100 Hurdles and 2nd in the 300 Hurdles.

On a sad note, Maia Caldwell Booker of West Hall suffered an apparent injury in Heat 4 of the 100 meters and we wish her a speedy recovery.
