Boys

Well that was an interesting week of racing. Harrison and Brookwood come in at 1-2 and both lose region, so who’s left? St. Pius after a good run on fast course? I guess so, but watch out Lions, because as you know the #1 ranked team on this list hasn’t done a very good job of holding it this year. I ranked these teams based on how they raced, not based on how I think they will race at state. For that reason both Brookwood and Marist drop, but I think they’re both stronger than that. North Hall and Mill Creek make the big jumps and Flowery Branch looks more like their old self. This list doesn’t really mean much with state 5 days away. These teams will see different temperatures, but as we saw last year that didn’t really make much of a difference.

Girls

Unlike the boys, not much movement here. Coach Wood settled things and then region backed them up. The big change is that Heritage-Catoosa finally joins our ranks. My apologies to those girls who probably deserved to be ranked earlier this year, but have run in some low key meets. Thanks to the coaches who pointed them out to me. They could even find themselves much higher on this list after state if they can give Marist a good race. State should be very interesting, and I can see many good duels developing in all classifications. It’s a good time to be a fan of cross country.
